DIGITAL BLACK AND WHITE FIBER

To meet our criteria for Fiber services, your job must fall within the following guidelines:

• The maximum image size is 48" tall by 120" long.
• The recommended working space is the sRGB color space.
• Please set your file to the following specifications: Files must be in RGB Mode, 8 Bit with all layers flattened.
• Files in TIFF or JPEG format MUST BE either 200 or 400 dpi.
• No special characters or spaces in the filenames.
• To maintain details in your highlights: In Photoshop, before you color correct, you should set your Levels aim points as: black at 0 and white at 245. This setting deters from blowing out the details in your highlights. However, this setting is not a requirement.
• For best results, we suggest that set your monitor at: Gamma 2.2, D6500 (6500 Kelvin)
• We suggest that you use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile, which is included in your Adobe Photoshop software. We recommend that you first convert to Grayscale which is Dot Grain 20% to discard all the color information and then convert back to sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

Using precise lasers fired onto true photographic paper, the Lambda and Lightjet are the best digital enlargers in the industry. These digital prints are capable of achieving the ultimate in image fidelity. Prints from 8x10 inches up to 50 inches (48" image size) by the length of the roll (often, ten feet or greater) are unsurpassed in sharpness, color accuracy and reproduction of detail. Independent research has shown these prints to last 60+ years without noticeable fading. All digital prints require a high-resolution scan to assure the highest quality, which is not included in the print price. If you have specific color & density requests, please bring a guide print or inform your customer service rep.

Premium Paper

Metallic, Supergloss and Duratrans (backlit)

Metallic and supergloss papers have a surface similar to Cibachrome, and are capable of achieving a brilliance that will astound you. The Trans is a backlit media perfect for display in a lightbox. Samples of all Lightjet papers are available by request in store or by mail. Print pricing for premium papers is as follows:

A&I offers a range of state-of-the-art scanning services. To help determine what type of scan you might need, please review our “Scan Sizes for Standard Prints” chart. This chart lists scan sizes required for prints at 150, 200 and 300 dpi. (Note: All prints are made at 300 dpi.)

Custom Drum Scans- Our drum scanner is capable of scanning both transparency and reflective materials up to 11.5” x 12” at 8000dpi (true optical resolution, without interpolation) in 24-bit color. This service is available for transparency, color negative or black and white film in 135, 120, 4x5 and 8x10 formats. Drum scans are custom files that have been color corrected, cropped, sized and rotated to your specifications. These high-resolution scans are ideal for Lightjet prints, Giclée prints and digital transparencies.

Noritsu Scans A&I's Durst Sigma scanner has been replaced by the new Noritsu 1700SA. This new-to-market technology is superior to the Sigma in many ways. The Noritsu maintains excellent detail in highlights and shadows and offers much more sensitive image correction options. This service is available for transparency, color negative or black and white film for 135, panoramic and 120 formats up to 6x9. Images from 4x5 format must be drum scanned. All scans are color corrected and spotted.

Because of the Noritsu's setup, files are offered as Standard, Med, Hi and Ultra-Hi, reflecting file size. Specific scan sizes from different film formats are listed in the chart below.

Flatbed Scans can be created from artwork or printed photographs. Our flatbed scanner scans originals up to 11.5” x 16.5”. This is a custom scan, which includes critical color correcting, cropping and rotation. This scan can create the maximum print sizes available from our Lightjet enlarger and Giclée printer. RGB by default - CMYK: +10%.
