What is the turnaround time for film sent in an A&I Mailer?
Orders are typically shipped out 2 to 3 days from the time we receive the mailers. Shipping time depends on the U.S. Postal Service or your preferred carrier.
How can I check the status of my mailer?
A&I’s Mail Order Service department is available Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm, excluding national holidays. You can contact us by phone toll-free at 888-666-5199 or via email mail@aandi.com.
When do my mailers expire?
Mailers do not expire as long as the service is still offered by A&I.
Can I use my A&I mailers in stores?
No, film mailers can only be submitted by mail. We do make an exception for photographers who live out of the area and would like to come see A&I while they are visiting. As such, your ship-back address cannot be local. If an order is submitted in a mailer it must be shipped back.
Do I need more than one mailer to submit a roll of 220 film?
Yes. Clients must include two mailers for every roll of 220 film.
Do I have to fill out individual mailers for every single roll of film I am sending?
If you are submitting multiple rolls of film that you want processed the same way, just fill out one mailer and leave the rest blank. Your submission will need to include the correct number of mailers (e.g., 10 mailers to process 10 rolls), but you don’t need to fill them all out individually. You can also just write us a letter and enclose the mailers.
Can I request special processing with my mailers?
You can request any special processing offered by A&I with your mailers including cross-processing, snip tests, pushing and pulling. To do so, simply print and fill out our E6 Mailer Option Form or C41/B&W Mailer Option Form and send it with your order.
Can I process my C41 B&W film with a mailer?
Yes, a C41 film mailer is appropriate for this type of film.
Can I purchase mailers for sheet film?
Mailers cannot be used for sheet film processing at this time, but we do accept sheet film processing orders by mail. Standard list pricing applies. We recommend that you send us the sheets in the original 3-tiered box with the sides taped securely shut to avoid light leaks.
Can I order scans of my film with my mailers?
Yes. You can add Low, Medium or High Res scans with your processing for an additional charge. For C41 or B&W film, you have the option of swapping the included proof prints for a Low Res CD at no additional charge. To order scans, please print and fill out our E6 Mailer Option Form or C41/B&W Mailer Option Form and send it with your order.
Can I submit infrared film via mailers?
Yes. Because infrared film is highly sensitive to light, film should be sent in the canister with the top securely taped shut and labeled “COLOR INFRARED” or “B&W INFRARED”. For B&W infrared, we ask that our clients inform us of the ASA/ISO used and filter combination (if any) so we may process the film accordingly.
Does mailer cost include shipping?
Mailers require three postage stamps to send to A&I, but they do include national ship-back costs. For orders of 1-3 rolls, A&I ships back via 1st class mail. For 4-9 rolls, A&I ships back via USPS. For orders of 10+ rolls, A&I ships back Ground service, signature required. Please note that Ground service is not available for shipping to Hawaii. All mailer orders are shipped to Hawaii via USPS unless other shipping options are arranged by the client. Mailers do not include international return shipping.
How do I instruct A&I to ship my mailer order outside the country?
We ask our international clients to enclose a note with their credit card number with expiration date and ship-back preference (i.e. FedEx, UPS, etc.). When an order is finished we will bill your credit card the appropriate shipping costs.
How do I request a particular carrier for my return shipping?
We ask that customers desiring FedEx or UPS shipping include a note indicating their preferred mode of shipment along with their credit card number and expiration date. We will bill their card accordingly when the order is shipped.
What services are not available through Mailers?
Although all A&I services are available to order by mail, A&I Mailers are exclusively for film processing services. They therefore cannot be used for machine or custom reprints and enlargements or for drum scans. If you need to request any of these services by mail, please view mail-in instructions here.
